Happy Anniversary

Yesterday was our 6th anniversary. We both felt like it was much more significant of a milestone than 5 years - not for any reason that makes sense :-) There's been much that has happened in 6 years; 5 children, our first house, God's provision for new vehicles (2 for Jake, after his accident this summer), our first dog and cat, Basic Training and AIT, and of course a deployment. A quickly produced demo-album and now Jake & John are working on completing a full length album they're happier with. Becoming involved in youth ministry. On and on and on...

God has been so good to us. We feel in this last year we've been drawn closer together than ever before, maybe that's why this anniversary feels more important. We've been learning and growing in our faith together. I can truly say I have married my very best friend. While I love all my friends dearly, I really would rather spend time with Jacob if I had the option. How special that after all the years it's continuing to just get better and better. Isn't God's way so much better than the world's? I am happy that we're not at a place where nothing is exciting, fresh, or new anymore. Oh sure, there's familiarity and comfort in knowing someone so well and being known. But the Lord is always doing something in us, causing life to be filled with excitement and newness and an increasing love for each other.

Here's a little picture from this morning - 4 sleepy heads enjoying some yogurt with homemade granola & raisins.

When people say to us that "all those kids" must be hectic and stressful I can only stop to think how much they're missing out on by focusing on the negative. Are lots of little ones stressful? Well sure! I am busy in caring for them, it is a little rough when they're all tired and grumpy. How sad to me that they don't know how wonderful the rest of the time is with four little sweeties...

We are more richly blessed each year. I am so thankful for all I have been given. It brings me to tears to think that the Lord loves me this much to fill my heart with such joy, love, and peace in such a fun family.
