'Tis the season!

Yesterday afternoon the three older kids ventured outdoors to play with Daddy in the snow. Liam was completely jealous! The hand-me-down boots that I thought would fit him are too small :-P Since he'll be getting a pair from Aunt Eliza for Christmas I can't see much of a point in getting another pair a week earlier.

I think that when Daddy takes the time to tire the little ones out in the snow it's imperative to have something nice and warm to drink when they come in. I quickly whipped up this new homemade hot cocoa recipe that was absolutely delicious!!!

Hot C0c0a

1 c. sugar
2/3 c. baking cocoa
1/4 tsp. salt
8 c. milk
2/3 c. water
2 tsp. vanilla extract
1/2 tsp. almond extract

In a large saucepan, combine the sugar, cocoa, and salt. Stir in the milk and water. Cook and stir over medium heat until heated through. Remove from the heat; stir in extracts. Yield 10 servings (2 1/2 quarts).

Since we're snowed in, it was a perfect day to make a batch of Christmas cookies.

Ok, truthfully I only did half the batch. I became too tired to finish! You know you're 9 months pregnant when making a batch of cookies wears you out! But, while the little three slept, Isaac and I made Christmas trees & wreaths, poinsettias, snowflakes, and stars. Hopefully I'll finish them later tonight or tomorrow afternoon.

Mmmmm, that recipe sounds delicious! The cookies look great, too. I love the bundled up pics of the kids.

I love homemade hot chocolate -- it's like dessert! (Especially with whipped cream! :))

Got your card today -- what a blessed family! Such beautiful children, and you and Jake look great. Made me smile, for sure.
